Now there was a report that only 38 people were affected by the viral fever caused by chikungunea in Kerala. More than 100 people died in Chertala and many more in Alapuzha and many more in other areas. Thousands of people were affected and almost all the hospitals in Alapuzha were full of people with viral fever.

Govt effort to eradicate the musquitoes was totally indadequate. Soon after monsoon rains the musquitoes population increased terribly and the local authorities did nothing to curb this problem. Voluntary organisations went around cleaning the filth in the lakes and canals, whereas Corporation and municipal authorities were busy preparing false vouchers for having paid wages to workers for cleaning the canals. Poor school children were asked to clean the canals and remove the dirt from the sewage canals, whereas money was taken out by municipal authorities by false vouchers for expenditure incurred for cleaning the canals.

Not only that our beaurocracy have lost all their sense of social commitment but were busy filling their pockets with ill gotten money in the name of cleaning the sewage canals of Kochi corporation. We had several meetings, speakers after speakers spoke in high volume about the clean atmosphere but nothing happened. Canals continue to be clogged. Dirty water continue to stagnate. musquitoes continue to breed, viral fever is rampant.

In Chertala where coir industry is thriving, coconut husks are soaked in canals for seasoning them for extracting coir fibre. These canal waters are stagnant and would never flow into a larger canals or to the backwaters. They will fill the canals in rainy season due to rain water and then again empty in summer. These canals are the fertile area for the breading of the musquitoes. Everybody knows this but no effort is made either to empty these canals or to kill the larvae of the musquitoes by effective pesticides. When will somebody come to do real work to clean the environment is the question . Close

Keralites are to blame themselves for the sad state of civic amenities.. Most of their back water is a shitty mess with the drainage choking and killing a free flowing river.. I pity these touristy kind of blog writers who come here and wax endlessly about their honeymoon experience stung by a zillion mosquitoes ..That wud want more folks to get there and be bitten and then talk abt that ethereal eeerie expereince.. Almost like reading a Riverine expereince on religion.. or Lion Bikash wanting to be a Sadhu beedi, in his next life..

They do it to wreck your happiness like the chain mail sending freaks.. Many here say that Anand Nair himself is a giant mosquito and Aditi Nair is a inverted ice cream cone that looks like a giant sausage.. We can’t say, for sure but certainly they are the intellectuals battling,on who is right while Kerala reels .

Did Tweedeldee or did Tweedeldum say the right thing.. Who the friggin hell cares.. As for the poor Mosquito that is gettting all the bad press we must ask Indu here to interview that thing. A bunch of Mosquito Manufacturers asociation is heading to Hydrebad to ask her to do just that.. If Bilingual permits she caninterview that lone albino mosquito responsible for all this Chikungunea.
