Writing off of the loans is not done with sympathy to the borrower who could not repay the loan on account of various reasons. There is one story which the public do not know. After having given a loan, if the loanee does not repay the loan as promised in his loan application, the bank before taking steps to recover the loans starts to search for fixing the accountability for the nonrecovery of the loan. Thestarts to search the names of the bank officers who scrutinised the loan application, of those who processed the application, who sanctioned the loan, who did the documentation, and who did the securatisation, who did the follow up, and if any lapses are detected, departmental action is initiated. This process has ruined the career of many officers in most of the banks and made the bank officers job less attractive than any other job. When the option to take voluntary retirement was thrown open, many talented and experienced officers left the institutions. Politicians meddling with the bank's board of directors and ask them waive the interest for the whole loan is quite often done. Banks board of directors have their own yardstick to recommend writing off of the loans big or small. So far nobody have questioned the criteria adopted by the boards for recommending individual NPAs.

Secularism and the RSS Ideology
Anantha, what RSS preaches is totally misunderstood by everybody. They dont pick up quarrel with everybody. When quarrel comes their way they dont want to run away. In this pseudo secular society the ultimate sufferer in the secularism is the hindu. I am not a member of RSS and I dont support them blindly. But when marxists pick up RSS men and kill them RSS cannot be silent onlookers. Similarly when muslims kill RSS workers, they retaliate. Do you know how many are killed in Kannur district both from RSS and CPM. Now that killing spree is going on in Kodungallur. Many militant muslim organisations are bringing in arms and storing them in mosques and in private houses. Police does not take any action since muslim league is a ruling party. Do you know what happened in Marad near Calicut. In Beypore them bombarded a boat and the police was not able to solve the mystery. Now there is a series of blasts in Calicut, nothing is being done. RSS gave the warnings sufficiently early. Nobody cared for it. What seculrism. Hindu blasting is the secularism praticed now.

These Chennai brahmin marriages are very funny. Girl seeing whether in an educated society or uneducated society is stereotyped with "sojji and bajji" affair.Making the girl to sing is just to check whether she is artistically talented and not for any kacheri singing. Boy's mother or aunt go to the kitchen and watch their levels of sophistication. They say the kitchens show the cultural sophitication of the family. And after all these ordeals, they simply say that they did not like the girl and turn down the offer. I know many boys who come on leave home have "bajji and sojji' almost everyday and get their stomach upset. Then comes the dowry or seer stipulations. How much silver vessels and how much stainless steel vessels, car of which make, jewellery of how many sovereigns etc. And finally how many will come with the goom's party , to arrange accommodation for all of them. If it is a three days function what to serve for breakfast on each day. What sweet to be served in the evening with tea, whether made in ghee or vanaspathi, what gifts to be given to the 'mappilai thozhan" and the like. After the marriage is over, when the bridegroom comes for Divali, he has to be given silk double veshti with gold ring, preferably a diamond ring.
The picture is more or less the same in gujarathi, marathi or any other hindu marriages, especially the dowry part of it They may relent if the girl is educated and capable of earning. Otherwise it is strict observation of the rules which have not changed even today. .

I am sorry you had bad experience with banks in India. The problem is the bank in India may have agency arrangement with a US bank and all remittances may be routed through them. 
These banks evaluate a customer based on how much balance you leave in your account. If you happen to operate with minimum balance, they may not care for you. 
All these banks are overworked without adequate manpower to manage things. Better talk to them to build up a relationship and sometimes it works better.
Almost all the banks offer good service if they find out that you are a valuable customer.

Sexercise is not limited to any age. Ha, Ha, Having got stuck with some such in malayalam, I am free now, I dont see any serials at all. One ran for 500 episodes and then continued for another 500. They changed the name slightly and ran for another 450 episodes. Finaally I found out it is just trash and nothing else.

Memories of Vishu's gone by

It is almost the same now as far as Vishu kani is concerned. Kani vellarikka bought from the local vegetable shop was unusually yellow. When tried to position it in the Uruli (vessel) my hands were yellow in colour. When I tried to wash the vellarikka the deep yellow colour washed out . The shopkeeper had given it a fresh paint to make it look more atractive. Kani Konna (yellow flowers) were bought at a high price of Rs.10 /- per small bunch which withered away by evening by the extreme heat and all that we could see during kani were some withered yellow flowers and some sticks. Children whom we tried to wake up to see the kani, were in deep sleep after seeing the late night special Vishu programmes in the TV and refused to get up from the bed. After great persuation we brought them to the puja room to see kani, but they refused to open their eyes. Finally when they opened their eyes they demanded kaineettam. Small coins wont do. They all demanded at least a hundred rupee note so that they can go for the new films released for Vishu. Where is time for cooking food on such auspicious days? Local caterers supply sadhya at the rate of Rs.45/- per head. It will be costier to make so many dishes at home. The food was brought by the caterer at 12 noon and we all sat and enjoyed the food of the caterer. Vishu programmes were plenty in the TV. We sat and watched the electronic Vishu and allow it to pass by.
